Heritage Art Deco Windows and George Clarke’s Old House, New Home

It was with great pleasure that The Heritage Window Company appeared in the season finale and boy did they save the best till last! The ever smiling Gareth and Frances bought a 1930’s Art Deco property with amazing views over Newquay. Whilst some original features remained, many had been lost or modernised without feel for the original character (such as the pink pebble dash or white uPVC windows!).

As George says “The Windows are without a doubt the most important thing of all and how those windows really respect the art deco nature” “The two things that any top spec art deco house needs is beautiful metal frame windows and stunning render.”

When it comes to restoring an Art Deco property and we couldn’t agree more. The Heritage Window Company advised, created and then installed a number of bespoke Art Deco and Curved Glass Windows to take the property back to it’s original look of 1935 but of course with modern improvements such as security and insulation.

“We are going with the original style art deco windows, it’s a real key part to the look of the house” said Gareth.

The original house was a snip at £465,000 and whilst the original planned budget of works was £100,000 with the addition of skylights, bi-fold doors and interior upgrades not originally planned – the final cost did come 50% over at £150,000 – It was well worth the extra spend though I am sure you will agree.

Frances and Gareth said that they just fell in love with the house after going for a ‘browse’ and it was very much an ‘Unpractical and emotional purchase’. We are just so pleased they went for ‘Red Rails’ and of course chose Heritage as their window of choice. Whilst it may have been ultimately an ugly bungalow on purchase, it has grown and been changed into the most wonderful Art Deco pad overlooking one of Newquay’s best surfing beaches.

We wish Gareth, Frances and their now two children, all the very best.
